You two have made me yearn, O Farqad stars,

For a full moon that set before its time.

And each time you both shine,

You teach my eyes to string pearls,

Over a dear one who has departed and will not

Return until the two acacia-gatherers return.

You hastened, O Mahmoud, on a journey

That gladdened the eyes of the houris of Paradise.

As though the last we knew of happiness

Had been on the night of the festival.
