كَمHow often حَدَّدواthey fixed يَومَthe day of الجَلاءِthe evacuation الَّذيwhich
كَم حَدَّدوا يَومَ الجَلاءِ الَّذي
أَصبَحَhas become فيin الإِبهامِuncertainty كَالمَحشَرِlike Judgment Day
أَصبَحَ في الإِبهامِ كَالمَحشَرِ
How often they have fixed the day of evacuation, which
Has become as uncertain as Judgment Day!
وَسَنَّand instituted قَومُthe people of الطَيشِrecklessness مِنout of جَهلِهِمtheir ignorance
وَسَنَّ قَومُ الطَيشِ مِن جَهلِهِم
كِذبَةَa lie إِبريلَApril لِأُكتوبَرِfor October
كِذبَةَ إِبريلَ لِأُكتوبَرِ
And the reckless folk, in their ignorance, instituted
An April Fool's lie for October.
