لَقَدindeed عاشَرتَناyou kept our company فَلَبِثتَand you remained فيناamong us
مِثالاًa model لِلنَزاهَةِof integrity وَالكَمالِand perfection
Indeed, you kept our company and remained among us
a model of integrity and perfection,
بِحِلمٍwith forbearance كانَwas مَحمودَpraised المَزاياthe virtues
وَعَدلٍand justice كانَwas مَمدودَextended الظِلالِthe shades
with forbearance whose virtues were praised,
and justice whose shade stretched wide.
فَإِنso if كُنتَyou were اِعتَزَلتَyou withdrew إِباءَrefusing to endure ضَيمٍinjustice
فَمِثلُكَthen one like you بِالوَظائِفِabout official posts لاnot يُباليcares
So if you have withdrawn rather than endure injustice,
then one like you cares nothing for official posts.
فَحَبّاتُso the cores القُلوبِof the hearts تَسوقُconvey شُكراًthanks
إِلَيكَto you بِقَدرِequal in measure to حَبّاتِthe grains الغِلالِof the harvest
So the hearts’ very cores send thanks
to you, in number equal to the grains of the harvest.
