How much a lover endures and encounters
When Egypt has so many lovers?
in loving Egypt, who has so many lovers!

Indeed, I bear in my love for you a longing,
O Egypt—that has burst all bounds.
O Egypt, that has broken free of all bonds.

Your sanctuary guarded by a noble, cultivated people,
with a cultivated people guarding your noble domain?

Lavishing sacrifice before you, giving without stint?
by giving and spending in your presence.

Noble qualities indeed enrapture me,
Indeed, noble virtues fill me with delight,
As an exile thrills at homecoming and reunion.
as an exile delights in homecoming and reunion.

And the thought of honor and generosity stirs me
Among all virtues with a lover’s tremor.
among the virtues, with the tremor of one who yearns.
