They hung their noses on the moon in the sky,
They point their noses to the moon in the sky,
They hooked their noses to the moon of the sky,
Yet their cheeks are not lifted from the dust.
Yet their cheeks are not raised from the dust.
Yet their cheeks are never raised from the dust.

Umayma bore slaves, then went forth with them,
Umaymah gave birth to Abd, so they became
Umayma gave birth to slaves, and with them she became
Potbellied, limping whenever their legs move.
Heavy-bodied, their feet dragging as they walked.
Swollen-bellied; when legs walk, they limp.

O sons of Umayma, surely the outward sign of your baseness
O sons of Umaymah, your bad fortune
O sons of Umayma, indeed the rising sign of your baseness
Is a dusky hue whenever the snouts come into view.
Is a complexion that blackens when touched by spears.
Is a dark hue, visible when noses are laid bare.
