أَذاO possessor of العَرشِthe Throne إِنّيindeed I مُسلِمٌa Muslim بِكَin You عائِذٌseeking refuge
مِنَfrom النارِthe Fire ذوpossessed of بَثِّanguish إِلَيكَto You فَقيرُin need
O Possessor of the Throne, I am indeed a Muslim, seeking refuge in You
O Possessor of the Throne, I submit and seek refuge in You
From the Fire, full of anguish and in need of You.
From the Fire; burdened with sorrow, in need of You.
بَغيضٌhateful إِليَّto me الظُلمُinjustice ماso long as لَمnot أُصَبI am afflicted بِهِby it
مِنَfrom الظُلمِinjustice مَشعوفُtormented الفؤادِthe heart نَفيرُrecoiling
Injustice is hateful to me, so long as I am not afflicted by it;
Injustice is hateful to me, so long as I am not afflicted by it,
From injustice I recoil, my heart tormented.
From oppression, my heart is frantic and flees in aversion.
وإِنّيand indeed I وإِنand even if قالواthey said أَميرٌa ruler وَتابِعٌand a follower
وَحُرّاسُand guards أَبوابٍdoors لَهُنَّthey have صَريرُcreaking
And I, though they speak of a ruler and a follower,
For I—even if they say 'A Commander and a follower,'
And guards at doors that creak,
With guards at doors that creak upon their hinges—
لأَعلَمُI certainly know أَنَّthat الأَمرَthe command أَمرُكَYour command إِنif تَدِنYou judge
فَرَبٌّthen You are Lord وَإِنand if تَغفِرYou forgive فأَنتَthen You غَفورُall-forgiving
Know for certain that command is Yours: if You judge,
I know for certain the command is Yours: if You judge,
Then You are Lord; and if You forgive, You are all-forgiving.
Then You are the Lord; and if You forgive, You are the All-Forgiving.
