    Today every trembling star quivers

at the bursting forth of that helper's radiance.

Were the sun of exaltation to face his radiance,

it would not claim the name unless eclipsed.

And were the full moon's witnesses to rise against it,

they would not attest its brilliance unless it were eclipsed.

Saʿd al-Suʿud, before the beauties of his description,

stands still; for no other has it stood still.

with his hosts, like the full moon in the dark night.

and the seal remains under the restrainer's command.

God has risen, and through his rising has appeared

compassionate, while the adversary showed no compassion.

God has risen in a resurrection after which

there is no death to terrify, nor the disappearance of one who hides.

This is Christ, now appearing from his tomb,

arresting the gaze of the beholder.

and lifted sin's burden from us since he was healed.

So when he shines forth, I say to the sun, 'Set!'

And when he appears, I say to the full moon, 'Hide!'

If his worth can be described in his human nature,

then you see him in his divinity, beyond description.

His pardon quenched the fire's flame for us

long ago, and without it the fire would never have gone out.

and triumph with John, without pausing.

We hasten on the feet of yearning and the east wind,

and dispel the tangled fancies of the ailing conscience.

no one who is not enamored finds the way to triumph.

Away with any talebearer among them and any harsh reprover!

you would know of his grace what you had never known.

Time perishes, while in him there remains what has not been described.

is a sun, so I never quit my station before it.

    بل مُغرَماً أو مغرياً تتشرَّف

    O my reprover, do not show yourself finding fault with him;

rather, be enamored or inspire love, and you will gain honor.
