To you I plead in praise reserved for you.

So gladden your praiser's voice by listening.

Indeed, I call to you from a heart in pain.

From on high, hear me, then pity my affliction.

O sinners, approach in humility and embrace

Mary's feet; then proceed as I advise.

If you wish the heart to receive her blessings,

Come to her with reverence and piety.

    يُضيكُم نورُها في جنح ظلماء

    Come to her when you are in distress;

Her light will illumine you in the gloom of a dark night.

Indeed, through it we were saved from the guile of the one who hates us,

That one who seeks to devour the soul through disease.

Keep the Most High's commandments, along with his daughter's command,

If you are born of him through the Spirit and water.

Open your heart and seek her gifts,

And recount the Virgin's glory in a mellow voice.

If you are my heart, O heart, then burn with passion

In love for her: she indeed slays my enemies.

She truly removed sorrow from our inner selves,

And gladdened our inmost heart through her watchful gentleness.

Prostrate yourself and exalt him who fashioned her in beauty,

In the quarter of her dwelling, exalted by names.

Indeed, through her we were saved from an avenging death,

By that I mean the affliction of plague and epidemics.
