فإن تُدمِنْ أخي أكلاً وشُرباً

فإن تُدمِنْ أخي أكلاً وشُرباً

فلا تلهجْ بتفسير الكلامِ

فلا تلهجْ بتفسير الكلامِ

So if, my brother, you are addicted to eating and drinking,

If you persist, my brother, in eating and drinking,

Then do not busy yourself with interpreting the word.

Do not engage in interpreting words.

كلامُ اللَه لا يدنوه شَرْهٌ

كلامُ اللَه لا يدنوه شَرْهٌ

ومُعتدٌّ بتنميق الطعامِ

ومُعتدٌّ بتنميق الطعامِ

No glutton draws near to the word of God,

The words of God are not approached with evil,

Nor one who prides himself on embellishing food.

Nor with overindulging in food.
