O you who rose, ascending to the heights,

like the Son, in soul and body, when he raised you.

You never rode, like the prophet Elijah,

a chariot; rather, you rode upon the backs of angels.

By God, O Mary the Virgin, I ask you

to tell me who told you of your death.

God's angels, my servants, with their words:

“Today you truly ascend to the throne of your dwelling.”

You answered truly, but I say: if

you are dying, you have aimed far wide of the mark.

Rather, this is a transition summoning your noble self from

an earthly paradise to your Lord's paradise.
