O Spirit, the Comforter, comfort me

with your coming, full of profound consolation.

فظهرت ناراً مثلَ برقٍ ساطعٍ

فرأت به الأنصار أيْداً سابغا

فرأت به الأنصار أيْداً سابغا

Then you appeared as fire, like flashing lightning,

and through it the supporters saw abundant strength.

مُلئت قلوبُ الرسل منه شجاعةً

مُلئت قلوبُ الرسل منه شجاعةً

لما رأوا بالأفق نوراً نابغا

لما رأوا بالأفق نوراً نابغا

The apostles' hearts were filled with courage from him

when they saw a light emerging on the horizon.

فاشتدَّ عزمُهم بمنحةِ عزمِه

فاشتدَّ عزمُهم بمنحةِ عزمِه

من بعد ما قد كان صِفراً فارغا

من بعد ما قد كان صِفراً فارغا

So their resolve grew strong through the gift of his resolve,

after it had been empty and void.

ملأوا الأنام غرائباً حتى غدوا

ملأوا الأنام غرائباً حتى غدوا

مَرأىً شهيّاً أو شراباً سائغا

مَرأىً شهيّاً أو شراباً سائغا

They filled humankind with wonders until they became

a delightful sight or a palatable drink.
