يا ذاكر الموت في قلبٍ يُحسُّ به
أنتyou امرؤٌa man زاهدٌascetic عنfrom رزقهhis livelihood فرغاhas become free
أنت امرؤٌ زاهدٌ عن رزقه فرغا
O you who remember death in a heart that feels it,
You are an ascetic man, free of concern for his livelihood.
قدindeed فاتsurpassed كلَّevery غبيٍّfool باتspent the night مُنتَشباًentangled
قد فات كلَّ غبيٍّ بات مُنتَشباً
بمالِهin his wealth وإلىand to بابthe gate السماheaven بلغاhas reached
بمالِه وإلى باب السما بلغا
You have surpassed every fool who spends the night entangled
In his wealth, and have reached the gate of heaven.
