Blessed are you, O body of the Virgin, for yours is

A grace in God surpassing earth and heaven.

God preserved it from that decay, just as

He guarded it while alive and pure, keeping it inviolate.

Since his birth from it preserved its virginity,

So he preserved it from death’s decay when death marked it.

Mary’s body and the body of her Son are alike:

Both were exalted; both were preserved.

If the Son honored the mother’s body when he came

From her, he honored it when it died, embracing it.

For her body was God’s inner chamber; therefore it

Will be with the body of him who came from her and grew.

So death’s decay has no power to annihilate it,

For it was its right to annihilate annihilation.
