بالمجد فيك جليّا

Congratulations to you, O Bethlehem,

O Bethlehem, you are blessed

on the glory manifest within you,

With glorious majesty

إذ حل فيك إلهٌ

إذ حل فيك إلهٌ

نراه طفلاً صبيا

نراه طفلاً صبيا

since God has come to dwell within you;

For God has come to dwell

we see Him as a child, a little boy.

In you, a babe we see

أتى من البكر بِكرٌ

أتى من البكر بِكرٌ

فكان معنىً خفيّا

فكان معنىً خفيّا

A firstborn came from the Virgin,

The firstborn of all came first

and so was a hidden meaning.

To you, a mystery

ملائكتْهُ قيامٌ

ملائكتْهُ قيامٌ

يرون سرّاً سريّا

يرون سرّاً سريّا

His angels stand,

His angels bow before

beholding an exalted mystery.

This secret deity

أتى الرعاةُ لراعٍ

أتى الرعاةُ لراعٍ

رأوه ربّاً رضيا

رأوه ربّاً رضيا

The shepherds came to a Shepherd;

The shepherds came to their shepherd

they saw Him as a well-pleasing Lord.

And saw their Lord most high
