Mention of her stirred my heart;

Would that my heart dwelt there!

في نواحيها رسومٌ

حرّكت منا السواكن

In her environs stand monuments

That stirred what lay still within us.

وكنائسْها عِظامٌ

وكنائسْها عِظامٌ

حبذا منها مساكن

حبذا منها مساكن

And her churches are grand—

How lovely are her dwellings!

كلَّ يومٍ غُفُرانٌ

كلَّ يومٍ غُفُرانٌ

في زيارات الأماكن

في زيارات الأماكن

Each day brings forgiveness

Through visits to those places.

كم كفورٍ حلَّ فيها

كم كفورٍ حلَّ فيها

عاد بالإيمان راكن

عاد بالإيمان راكن

Many an unbeliever who sojourned there

Returned resting secure in faith.

وأثيمٍ قد أتاها

وأثيمٍ قد أتاها

راح بالغفران زاكن

راح بالغفران زاكن

And many a sinner who had come to her

Departed certain of forgiveness.

وغريبٍ في حماها

وغريبٍ في حماها

مؤمناً فيها وساكن

مؤمناً فيها وساكن

And many a stranger under her protection

Dwells there as a believer.

صخرةَ الإيمان صارت

صخرةَ الإيمان صارت

وعَرَفتَ الصخرَ ماكن

وعَرَفتَ الصخرَ ماكن

She has become the rock of faith,

And you know that rock is firm.

فاتخذها لك أُسّاً

فاتخذها لك أُسّاً

أبداً من غيرِ لكن

أبداً من غيرِ لكن

So take her as your foundation,

Forever, without a 'but'.
