ولي حظٌّ من الدنيا شقيٌّ

ولي حظٌّ من الدنيا شقيٌّ

ولكن حظها مني سعيدُ

And my share of the world is wretched,

My share of this life is miserable,

Yet her share of me is happy.

Yet her share of me is blissful.

تُمنيني الأماني كاذباتٍ

تُمنيني الأماني كاذباتٍ

فأحسب ما تريد كما أريدُ

فأحسب ما تريد كما أريدُ

She holds out false hopes to me,

Vain hopes deceive me,

So I imagine she wants just what I want.

So I reckon all as I wish.
