And it is as though I were a child asleep in a cradle,
Until when I awake seeking the breast for suckling
growing sleepier at the chant and delighting in it,
Even if weaned, still wanting to play

فغدوت لا أنصاع عن صاع المنى
فكأننيso I am as though فيماin what أراهI see أشعبAsh'ab

So I would not turn aside from the measure of wishes;
As if I am Al-Khansa mourning her brother Sakhr
in what I see, it is as though I were Ash'ab.

And I am like al-Khansa, lamenting her Sakhr.
This is its definitive argument, so where is one guided
These are the sciences: where is one who trains?
By it, and where is the refined scholar?

هذي محجتها فأين المهتدي

This is their clear path: where is the rightly guided
Until God made its teacher available to me
upon it, and where is the refined scholar?
And I seek out the likes of him

So I unpacked it, read it, and understood it

For every symbol there is an era concerned with it
as people differ in excellence in what they pursue.

Pharaoh in the vision emerged like John
