أنحلتَyou have wasted ياO دمعُtears جسميmy body فارفقنَّso do be gentle بهwith it
واكففand cease لأنيbecause I علمتhave learned الإثمَsin أنحلنيhas wasted me
You have wasted my body, O tears; so be gentle with it.
My tears have melted my body, so be gentle with it
And cease, for I have learned that sin has wasted me.
And restrain yourself, for I have learned that sin melts me
فدمعةُfor the tear الحبof love تُبقيkeeps الجسمَthe body مبتهجاًjoyful
ودمعةُand the tear الإثمof sin تُبليwears down الجسمthe body بالوهنwith weakness
For the tear of love keeps the body joyful,
For the tear of love keeps the body joyful
And the tear of sin wears the body down with weakness.
And the tear of sin decays the body with frailty
شتانَhow different بينbetween دموعtears الحبof love إنif صدقتyou are sincere
فيهin it وبينand between دموعtears الإثمof sin والدرنand defilement
How different are the tears of love—if you are sincere
Far apart are the tears of true love
in it—from the tears of sin and defilement.
And the tears of sin and disgrace
