ليسthere is no للرهبانfor the monks عيدٌa feast
قدindeed بَغواthey sought فيهin it الشراههْgluttony
There is no feast for monks;
The monks have no holiday
they have sought gluttony in it.
In which they seek frivolity
قدindeed تعالَواthey grew haughty مذsince تعالَواthey rose

They have grown haughty since they rose
They have risen above others
above others through purity.
In piety and integrity
منwhoever تناهىwent to extremes فيin الملاهيdiversions
قدindeed تناهىwent to extremes فيin السفاههْfolly
Whoever goes to extremes in diversions
He who indulges in vain amusements
has gone to extremes in folly.
Indulges in foolishness and vanity
منwhoever يرىsees دنياهhis earthly life سجناًas a prison

Whoever sees his earthly life as a prison—
He who sees the world as a prison
does he see merriment in it?
Can he see in it any merriment?
أوor يرىsees المسجونthe prisoner فيهاin it
مجرماًas a criminal ذِكْرَmention of النباههْrenown
Or does the prisoner in it see,
Or can a prisoner see in it
as a criminal, any mention of renown?
A criminal, renown and greatness?
فانتبهso wake up ياO غمرsimpleton يوماًone day
أنتyou فيin دنياكyour world عاههْa blight
So wake up, O simpleton, one day:
Wake up one day, O negligent one
you are a blight in your world.
You are oblivious in your world
