1. If I say I did not intend to argue or fight,
And I did not seek the world greedily desiring increase,

2. Nor do I want praise or reputation or
Vanity, and whoever turns away from me, so be it.

3. But I was given a heart inclined towards
Advice and admonition for myself and others prohibitively,

4. So I make them into the mold of poetry I erect
On the pulpit of reminder of good commandingly.

5. So it may guide ones like me to every trait
That the heart loves and satisfies inwardly then outwardly.

6. Verily, religion is advice, said it
The chosen prophet of guidance, the noblest of mankind.

7. And it is said in the Quran "Invite to the path
Of your Lord" - so read, or ask whoever has read.

8. I called even if the times say to me
"Do you call people whose nature resembles air?"

9. They flee from the reminder if you recite to them
And if you spend the night remembering your Master.

10. Their nature is to collect, prevent and be heedless,
Hardened, advice does not affect them.

11. So I said "By my Lord I seek aid, and I
Intended good for them even if I fall short."

12. I set up the nets of advice that I may catch
Some guidance for them even if slowly coming.

13. And I remembered, for remembrance in the Book
Benefits the believers. God suffices me and grants victory.

14. Listen to my words and its aid, for it
Has come from an earnest warner who has come reminding you.

15. He fears for you the punishment that will befall you
When God establishes the scale and gathering.

16. So O gatherer of wealth, whether you are a ruler
Or a farmer, or a trader,

17. Do you hoard it white and yellow and have not ceased
To forge jewelry wastefully tyrannizing?

18. And eat it as sweets and fattened meat
With the finest spices filling up measures?

19. And bread of wheat with spiced rice
Due to the ghee generously poured?

20. And wear it red and green, luxurious
And furnish with everything expensive pridefully?

21. And build with it elevated decorated mansions
Resembling Chosroes in supremacy and Caesar in might?

22. And perfume with expensive perfumes
Like musk, ambergris and pure fragrance?

23. And indulge the soul in every pleasure
Sleeping satiated, fulfilled in desires?

24. While around you are those who spent the night bare, weak,
Elders, blind, among them widows,

25. Orphans, and children - so what do you see?
Do you know the state they are in during winter

26. When the wind blows and the sky rains on them?
Their teeth chatter from the contraction of their empty stomachs

27. And their eyelids stay awake.
They wake up as they slept - by God's mercy! Does

28. It move you? Is the broken mended by you
By giving them something to shield them from

29. Hunger, and you are given abundant reward?
You withhold spending for the stand on which

30. You will stand humiliated, humbled.
Poor, needing the good you hoarded there -

31. How valuable are treasures there!
Will you leave it for the heirs while you

32. Struggled with it for ages? So be cautious.
Do you refuse to give something that makes

33. You happy while you see what harms you and rush to it?
Repair the shortage - what is passed is done - before

34. You compensate from beyond the grave.
And be benevolent, righteous, kind, gentle

35. And not harsh to the beggar in your response.
And O poor ones, be patient in the state

36. You were afflicted with. Triumphant is the patient.
For you is a day in which you will

37. Be wealthy, eminent.
So perform God's obligations - do not neglect them

38. Nor transgress limits and show resentment.
What excuse for one who does not pray the obligatory?

39. The five prayers' obligation is clearer than the sun.
If he does not repent, he is killed, and if he

40. Denies it, he leaves an apostate, blasphemous.
He will prostrate on the Day of Resurrection unwillingly

41. On fire plates frequently.
Likewise for wealth is the required alms - an obligation

42. Once wealth reaches the known designated amount.
And its withholder - woe to him from its threat!

43. It will be twisted on his face, his sides, his back.
And whoever permits breaking fast in Ramadan has indeed

44. Become a disbeliever while present and able.
And superior is fasting for the traveler far away.

45. And Hajj to God's House is obligatory
Upon every free, adult, able person.

46. Else his death is a Jew's, or he will convert to Christianity!
So revere its pillars, four by them

47. Our religion is distinct among religions ritually.
And glad tidings to its performer completing it

48. Attaining contentment and ample reward.
As for the drinkers of this wine, proclaim to them

49. You have disgraced yourselves! Is grape juice made intoxicant?
Do you not see your colors have changed

50. And your lips foam and the face turns red?
Your minds are gone and you become like

51. Beasts, but your harm has become greater.
Your speech is shameful and you pelt with pebbles

52. And your nakedness is exposed to the All-Seeing.
Does a reasonable one accept this and on top of it

53. Two punishments - flogging then blazing fire?
And the promiscuous - warn him that his

54. Pure blood is violated among people.
If married, he is stoned until he dies and buried.

55. If unmarried, he tastes the lashes,
And shame remains with him among people disgracefully

56. Due to the stern warning and intense threat,
As Hell called "Where are my people? Come!"

57. It blazed and raged with sighs then snorting,
And everyone misguided and transgressing was herded into it,

58. Changing the upright monotheistic religion.
And whoever insults the Prophet's companions, the essence of loyalty,

59. The guides of mankind, the most pious and brilliant -
I am amazed at this abandoned one in what he says!

60. May he be grinded, for he has strayed and fabricated lies.
He will be dragged on his face, gloomy and ominous,

61. So the most miserable of persons is he, disgraced and dragged.
And whoever kills a forbidden soul intentionally

62. Has committed a horrendous crime.
And his punishment is carried out from his

63. Close kin, and his testimony he fabricated is annulled.
And the thief of people's wealth, the slanderers, the

64. Oppressor seizing property, the transgressor,
And whoever does not repent major sins,

65. And everyone persisting in minor sins,
And what preoccupation is it for people to have entertainment,

66. Drums, dancing, playing instruments?
Or gambling, passing time with

67. Checkers, chess - have they come with good fortune?
Do they not know the punishment is severe

68. Upon those who disobey the Merciful intentionally?
Each of them will ride the horror and terror

69. When hearts reach throats.
And the smoker - I have not seen worse than him

70. Stingy - I remain confused about him -
He sucks in smoke containing fire and burning,

71. A smell like the stench of carrion.
The mind warns him until it overpowers him

72. With its blaze, though he knows not what he has lit.
It begets in him tremendous weakness and tightness of breath,

73. His chest remaining congested.
He has repulsive coughs - may God disfigure his voice -

74. With vomiting and clearing the throat resembling braying.
If he does not repent and leave it honorably,

75. His sentence is foolish, ignorant and obstinate.
He will meet a terrible reckoning when

76. He sees the rest of the deeds in the Gathering presented,
While the abstinent from remembering his Lord forgetfully

77. Responding not to the remembrance - in deafness or refusal?
Does he not hear the word sent in the Book upon

78. Muhammad, related successively,
That one distracted from remembering his Lord

79. Will lead a life of misery tasting bitter?
Satan is assigned to him in his life

80. And he will be resurrected blind though he was seeing.
Whoever forgets the signs will forget - so be

81. Diligent in His remembrance and persevere.
You will attain divine success and triump

82. -hant victory, and tremendous grace.
Will you spend this life fruitlessly

83. While you do not settle in the world lasting?
By my life, if a moment of it were sold

84. It could buy the Throne and the Floor.
So spend it in everlasting kingdom - through it

85. The prophets and the righteous attain loftiness.
In my view, the youth think it

86. Remains strong and blossoming.
So delusion makes them follow desires,

87. While in the unseen are things concealed.
Do they not look how calamities befall crops,

88. Vanquishing them before amending while still green?
More amazing than them are those whom you see weakness has seized

89. And adversities made grim and ashen.
Their teeth have fallen out, and their backs are hunched,

90. Once ruddy blood now yellow.
Yet they fool around with the heedless, not noticing

91. The state that has afflicted them as time passed fleeting.
So my wonder at myself and those I see

92. Like me who have become falling shorts servants!
We speak without acting on a thing we say,

93. Though we admonish while hypocrisy appears.
How long will we thus throw ourselves into evil

94. As if it has no consequence, so we are not deterred?
Has not the time come that we refrain from what harms us

95. And cleanse dignity long soiled?
That we be sincere to God, repentant,

96. Not breaking like one who came and left?
Maybe the abounding pardon from our Lord

97. Will trail over all our sins, forgiving them.
My God! Guide me among those You have guided

98. And pardon me from deviance. Make me God-fearing.
My God! Make me rightly guided and a guider

99. To good sincerely propagating the religion.
Grant me Your pleasure without displeasure thereafter,

100. For You remain of bounty and pardoning.
Promise copious generosity and grace being Compassionate

101. To our elders and parents - their graves perfumed,
And to all those connected or related to us -

102. With spirit and kindness every in-law.
And include all Muslims in the mercy

103. Of Your grace that remains unending.
And bless the seal of prophets Ahmad

104. The warner prophet who came reminding.
And his family and companions who held fast

105. To religion, among them none but steadfast,
My God, be pleased with them and with us by their right,

106. And praise be to my Lord, first and last.
