Between Lebanon and Syria's coast,
While the land is drought-stricken and the sands barren,
The land is barren, the sands desolate,

No keen-eyed searcher can detect for you
Darkened by the weight of fever?

How wondrous is Tyre, swimming in the light,
God has images which chant His praise at dawn,
And the sea's smiling waves gleam.

On the blue bay's beauty white sails flutter,
White, with flags fluttering above her.

Silk cloth and precious agate lie in heaps.
Of chrysolite and chrysoprase in heaps.

Go forth, for Melqart blesses those who departed,
Sail on! Maqar blesses him who sails,
With longing behind and hope ahead.
Yearning astern, hope ahead.

From the land of Sidon and from Aradus,
From the land of Sidon and of Arados,
And Byblos, they drew the ropes taut and set forth,
Gebal's warriors have tightened their ropes
لِيُوَسِّعُواso they may broaden سُبُلَthe paths of الحَيَاةِlife وَيَنْشُرُواand they may unfurl
لِيُوَسِّعُوا سُبُلَ الحَيَاةِ وَيَنْشُرُوا

عَلَمَ الحَضَارَةِ وَالشُّعُوبُ نِيَامُ
To broaden the paths of life and unfurl
To spread the ways of life and plant
The banner of civilization while the peoples lay asleep.
The ensign of culture while the peoples slumber.
