Nature, as though she were a figurine,

The handiwork of a skilled artist’s hands.

Were it not for love of her, we would not have known love,

Nor would we have smiled at the bewildered morrow.

Nor would we have composed poetry, were it not for dew

    Strung upon her radiant thread.

Nor would we have excelled at prose, were it not for a breeze

That she scatters with the wisdom of a prose writer.

Nor would we have known love flowing as blood

Through our body, pure in essence,

Were it not for the moringa trees embracing in her grove,

And one bird’s kiss to another.
