ما أَنتُمُ في مِثلِ أُسرَةِ هاشِمٍ

ما أَنتُمُ في مِثلِ أُسرَةِ هاشِمٍ

فَاِذهَب إِلَيكَ وَلا بَني العَوّامِ

فَاِذهَب إِلَيكَ وَلا بَني العَوّامِ

You are no match for the family of Hāshim;

You are not the equals of the Hashimite family

so be off—nor are you a match for the sons of al-ʿAwwām.

So go away from it, neither are you the sons of Al-Awwam

قَومٌ لَهُم شَرَفُ البِطاحِ وَأَنتُمُ

قَومٌ لَهُم شَرَفُ البِطاحِ وَأَنتُمُ

وَضَرُ البِلادِ مُوَطَّؤو الأَقدامِ

وَضَرُ البِلادِ مُوَطَّؤو الأَقدامِ

A people who hold the honor of the broad valleys, while you are

A people who have the glory of valor, while you

the filth of the land, trampled underfoot.
