بَنيsons of جارِمٍJārim إِنَّindeed الصَغيرَthe lowly man بِقَدرِهِin his standing
بَني جارِمٍ إِنَّ الصَغيرَ بِقَدرِهِ
تَسوقُdrive إِلىtoward الأَمرِthe matter الكَبيرِgrave جَرائِمُهhis crimes
تَسوقُ إِلى الأَمرِ الكَبيرِ جَرائِمُه
Sons of Jārim, indeed, a man of little standing—
O children of Jarim, verily small sins in their measure
His crimes drive him toward a grave affair.
Lead to major crimes through their repetition
فَأَغنواso enrich سَفيهَthe fool of القَومِthe tribe لاdo not يَغرُرَنَّكُمlet him deceive you
فَأَغنوا سَفيهَ القَومِ لا يَغرُرَنَّكُم
كَماjust as غُرَّwas deceived مِنthe one who لَمdid not تُغنِavail عَنهُfor him تَمائِمُهhis amulets
كَما غُرَّ مِن لَم تُغنِ عَنهُ تَمائِمُه
So enrich the tribe’s fool; never let him deceive you,
So deter the ignorant one among the people, let not he deceive you
As one whose amulets did not avail him was deceived.
Just as he was deceived when his talismans did not avail him
بَنيsons of جارِمٍJārim ماnone مِنamong ثَلاثَةِthree مَعشَرٍa clan
بَني جارِمٍ ما مِن ثَلاثَةِ مَعشَرٍ
بِأَلأَمَbaser مِنكُمthan you حينَwhen عُدَّتwere counted مَلاوِمُهits faults
بِأَلأَمَ مِنكُم حينَ عُدَّت مَلاوِمُه
Sons of Jārim, among three clans there is none
O children of Jarim, none of the three groups is
Baser than you when its faults are counted.
More afflicted than you when their retaliation comes
