    Indeed, the clans in every place have learned

    That Tamim's wood does not yield to pressure.

    When the clans are summoned one day to the fray,

    And their skins turn dark from the smooth mail,

    إِذا ما اِلتَقى الأَقرانُ ثارَ أُسودُها

    You know that glory is in them and comes from them;

    When matched opponents meet, its lions rise up.

    And Tamim's two days are a day of war and valor,

    And a day of assemblies, when its striped cloaks trail.

    It is as though you did not know Khindif's noble chiefs,

    When its proud chiefs speak atop the pulpits.

    When the two clans, Qays and Khindif, gather,

    Then there is Ma'add, its heads and its multitude.

    And indeed, a man who aspires to Tamim and its glory

    Is like one stretching out a palm toward the stars, seeking them.

    بِهِ دُوِّخَت أَوثانُها وَيَهودُها

    And from among us is God's Prophet, reciting His Book;

    Through him their idols and their Jews were subdued.

    And no people who pray toward a qibla spend the night,

    Nor any others, without Quraysh leading them.
