إِنif تَكُyou are تَبخَلact stingily ياO اِبنَson of عَمرٍAmr وَتَعتَلِلand make excuses
إِن تَكُ تَبخَل يا اِبنَ عَمرٍ وَتَعتَلِل
فَإِنَّthen indeed اِبنَson of عَبدِservant of اللَهِGod حَمزَةَHamza فاعِلُone who acts
فَإِنَّ اِبنَ عَبدِ اللَهِ حَمزَةَ فاعِلُ
If you are stingy, O son of Amr, and make excuses,
If you withhold, O son of Omar, and make excuses
then Hamza, son of Abd Allah, is one who gives.
Then surely the son of Abdullah, Hamzah, is the doer
سَماreached upward بِيَدَيهِwith both his hands لِلمَعاليtoward lofty honors فَنالَهاand so attained them
سَما بِيَدَيهِ لِلمَعالي فَنالَها
وَغالَتand struck down رِجالاًmen دونَshort of ذاكَthat الغَوائِلُthe calamities
وَغالَت رِجالاً دونَ ذاكَ الغَوائِلُ
He reached up with both hands for lofty honors and attained them,
He reached with his hands for the heights, so he attained them
while calamities struck men down short of those heights.
And surpassed men despite obstacles and trials
