فَعِندَthen with الطِوالِthe tall men الشُمِّthe proud, lofty-nosed men مِنof آلِthe family of بَخذَجِBakhdhaj
فَعِندَ الطِوالِ الشُمِّ مِن آلِ بَخذَجِ
If ever you seek glory or the open field of battle,
If you desire glory or the clamor of war,
Then look to the tall, proud men of the house of Bakhdhaj.
Then among the Tall are the best of Bakhdaj's clan,
فَكَمfor how many فيهِمُamong them مِنof سَيِّدٍa chief وَاِبنِand a son of سَيِّدٍa chief
فَكَم فيهِمُ مِن سَيِّدٍ وَاِبنِ سَيِّدٍ
وَمِنand of ضارِبٍone who strikes بِالسَيفِwith the sword رَأسَthe head of المُتَوَّجِthe crowned ruler
وَمِن ضارِبٍ بِالسَيفِ رَأسَ المُتَوَّجِ
For how many a chief and chief's son are among them,
For many a lord and son of lords are there,
And men who strike a crowned ruler's head with the sword!
And those who strike with swords the heads of kings.
إِذاif ماever (emphatic) رَأَيتَyou see البَخذَجِيَّthe Bakhdhaji رَأَيتَهُyou see him

لَهُ هَيبَةٌ كَالصَيدَنائي المُتَوَّجِ
If ever you see a Bakhdhaji, you see him
When you see a Bakhdaji warrior you see one
With an awe-inspiring presence like that of a crowned king.
With a dignity like that of a crowned lion.
