If al-Nasri is slain beneath your banner,
If the Christian is killed beneath your banners
Then Tamim, after that, is Tamim no more.
Then Tameem is no more Tameem after him

He shatters an Indian-bladed sword as he attacks,
The Indian severs the iron wristlets
With the onslaught of a man not base in war.
The bracelet of a man in war, not cowardly

I regard al-Asd, and Madhhij too, as Iraq’s Nabataeans,
I see the lions - Anbat of Iraq and Madhij
And Tayy is not of Madhhij’s true stock.
And Tameem is no less a lion than Madhij
