أَرى كاهِلَي سَعدٍ أَتى مَنكَباهُما

أَرى كاهِلَي سَعدٍ أَتى مَنكَباهُما

عَلَيَّ وَرامي آلِ سَعدٍ كِلاهُما

عَلَيَّ وَرامي آلِ سَعدٍ كِلاهُما

I see Saʿd’s two mainstays; their shoulders have come

I see the shoulders of Saad have come, bent over

upon me, and both are archers of the clan of Saʿd.

Upon me, and the throwing of both clans of Saad

فَرَغمَن وَدَغماً لِلعَدُوِّ فَإِنَّهُ

فَرَغمَن وَدَغماً لِلعَدُوِّ فَإِنَّهُ

سَتَنبو مَرامي عَنهُما مَن رَماهُما

سَتَنبو مَرامي عَنهُما مَن رَماهُما

So abasement and humiliation upon the enemy, for indeed

So I bit and pierced the enemy, for he

the shots of whoever shoots at them will glance off them.

Will be warned of my throwing by him who threw at them
