وَإِجّانَةٍ رَيّا الشَروبِ كَأَنَّها

وَإِجّانَةٍ رَيّا الشَروبِ كَأَنَّها

إِذا اِغتُمِسَت فيها الزُجاجَةُ كَوكَبُ

إِذا اِغتُمِسَت فيها الزُجاجَةُ كَوكَبُ

And a basin brimming with wine, as though it,

when the glass was dipped into it, were a star,

مُخَتَّمَةٍ مِن عَهدِ كِسرى بنِ هُرمُزٍ

مُخَتَّمَةٍ مِن عَهدِ كِسرى بنِ هُرمُزٍ

بَكَرنا عَلَيها وَالفَراريجُ تَنعَبُ

بَكَرنا عَلَيها وَالفَراريجُ تَنعَبُ

sealed since the days of Kisra son of Hurmuz—

we went early to it, while the cockerels crowed.

سَبَقتُ بِها يَومَ القِيامَةِ إِذ دَنا

سَبَقتُ بِها يَومَ القِيامَةِ إِذ دَنا

وَما لِلصِبا بَعدَ القِيامَةِ مَطلَبُ

وَما لِلصِبا بَعدَ القِيامَةِ مَطلَبُ

With it I forestalled the Day of Resurrection as it drew near,

and after the Resurrection, youthful folly has nothing to seek.
