أَرىI see السِجنَthe prison سَلّانيhas made me forget عَنِfrom الرَوعَةِthe terror الَّتيwhich
أَرى السِجنَ سَلّاني عَنِ الرَوعَةِ الَّتي
إِلَيهاtoward it نُفوسُsouls المُسلِمينَof the Muslims تَحومُhover
إِلَيها نُفوسُ المُسلِمينَ تَحومُ
I see that prison has distracted me from the dread
I see that prison has made me forget the terror
around which the souls of Muslims hover.
Toward which the souls of Muslims hover.
عَجِبتُI marveled مِنَat الآمالِthe hopes وَالمَوتُwhile death دونَهاin their way
عَجِبتُ مِنَ الآمالِ وَالمَوتُ دونَها
وَماذاand what يَرىwill see المَبعوثُthe resurrected one حينَwhen يَقومُhe rises
وَماذا يَرى المَبعوثُ حينَ يَقومُ
I marvel at hopes, while death bars the way to them—
I marveled at hopes, though death stands in their way.
and what will the resurrected one see when he rises?
And what will the resurrected one see when he rises?
