إِذاwhen عَضَّbites بِالأَحياءِat the tribes مَحلٌdrought فَإِنَّناthen indeed we
إِذا عَضَّ بِالأَحياءِ مَحلٌ فَإِنَّنا
لَناours السورَةُthe ascendancy العُلياhighest عَلىover الزَمَنِthe age المَحلِbarren
لَنا السورَةُ العُليا عَلى الزَمَنِ المَحلِ
When drought bites the tribes, we indeed
Hold supreme sway over the barren age.
وَإِنand if نَكَثَunravels الأَوتارُblood feuds حَبلاًa bond لَمَعشَرٍfor a people
وَإِن نَكَثَ الأَوتارُ حَبلاً لَمَعشَرٍ
أَقَمناwe stand firm عَلَيهِby it غَيرَnot مُنتَكِثيbreakers of الحَبلِthe bond
أَقَمنا عَلَيهِ غَيرَ مُنتَكِثي الحَبلِ
And if blood feuds unravel a people's bond,
We stand by it, never breaking the bond.
إِذاwhen جاشَsurges بَحرُsea العِزِّmight مِنّاfrom us تَلاطَمَتclash together
إِذا جاشَ بَحرُ العِزِّ مِنّا تَلاطَمَت
أَوازِيُّwaves مِنّاfrom us بِالخُيولِwith horses وَبِالرِجلِand with foot soldiers
أَوازِيُّ مِنّا بِالخُيولِ وَبِالرِجلِ
When our sea of might surges, there clash together
Waves of ours, with horses and foot soldiers.
