وَمِنand among عَجَبِthe wonders of الأَيّامِthe days وَالدَهرِand time أَنthat تُرىshould be seen
وَمِن عَجَبِ الأَيّامِ وَالدَهرِ أَن تُرى
كُلَيبٌKulayb تَبَغّىseeks الماءَthe water بَينَamong الصَرائِمِthe sand dunes
كُلَيبٌ تَبَغّى الماءَ بَينَ الصَرائِمِ
And among the wonders of days and time is the sight of
Kulayb seeking water among the sand dunes.
فَياso, O ضَبَّDabb إِنif جارَacts unjustly الإِمامَthe imam عَلَيكُمُagainst you
فَيا ضَبَّ إِن جارَ الإِمامَ عَلَيكُمُ
فَجورواthen act unjustly عَلَيهِagainst him بِالسُيوفِwith the swords الصَوارِمِkeen-edged
فَجوروا عَلَيهِ بِالسُيوفِ الصَوارِمِ
So, O Dabb, if the imam wrongs you,
Then wrong him in turn with keen-edged swords.
أَماis there not فيكُمُamong you وَفدٌa delegation وَلاnor فاتِكٌan assassin بِهِagainst him
أَما فيكُمُ وَفدٌ وَلا فاتِكٌ بِهِ
فَماذاthen what الَّذيis it that تَرجونَyou hope for عِندَat the time of العَظائِمِgrave calamities
فَماذا الَّذي تَرجونَ عِندَ العَظائِمِ
Is there no delegation among you, nor one to strike him down?
What, then, do you hope for in times of grave calamity?
