لَعَمرُكَby your life ماnot فيin الأَرضِthe earth ليfor me مِنany مُصاهِرٍkinsman by marriage
لَعَمرُكَ ما في الأَرضِ لي مِن مُصاهِرٍ
وَلاand no نَسَبٍlineage يُدعىis claimed بِأَرضِin the land of عُمانِOman
وَلا نَسَبٍ يُدعى بِأَرضِ عُمانِ
By your life, I have no kinsman by marriage on earth,
By your life! I have no in-laws in the land
Nor any lineage claimed in the land of Oman.
Nor kin who is called to in Oman’s land.
وَلَكِنَّand yet أَهلَthe people of الأَبطَحَينِthe two Abtahs (gravelly valleys) عَشيرَتيmy clan
وَلَكِنَّ أَهلَ الأَبطَحَينِ عَشيرَتي
بَنوsons of كُلَّevery فَيّاضِoverflowing with generosity اليَدَينِboth hands هِجانِof pure lineage
بَنو كُلَّ فَيّاضِ اليَدَينِ هِجانِ
But the people of the two Abtahs are my clan,
But the people of the valley plains are my tribe—
Sons of every man of pure lineage whose hands overflow with bounty.
The Bani Kilab of the open-handed and passionate.
