كُنbe مِثلَlike يوسُفَJoseph لَمّاwhen كادَplotted إِخوَتُهُhis brothers
كُن مِثلَ يوسُفَ لَمّا كادَ إِخوَتُهُ
سَلَّhe plucked out الضَغائِنَthe grudges حَتّىuntil ماتَتِdied الحِقَدُthe hatreds
سَلَّ الضَغائِنَ حَتّى ماتَتِ الحِقَدُ
Be like Joseph when his brothers plotted against him:
Be like Joseph when his brothers nearly
he plucked out grudges until hatred died.
Let loose their grudges until hatred died
وَكَيفَand how تَرميyou shoot بِقَوسٍwith a bow لاnot تُوَتِّرُهاyou string it
وَكَيفَ تَرمي بِقَوسٍ لا تُوَتِّرُها
إِذاwhen المُلوكُthe kings رَمَواthey shoot وَاِستَهدَفَand became a target النَضَدُthe nobles
إِذا المُلوكُ رَمَوا وَاِستَهدَفَ النَضَدُ
And how can you shoot with a bow you do not string,
How can you shoot an arrow without tightening the bow
when kings shoot and the nobles stand exposed as targets?
When kings have shot and targeted the target
أَلاdo you not تَرىyou see لَهُمُfor them فيin مُلكِهِمtheir dominion عَلَماًa standard
أَلا تَرى لَهُمُ في مُلكِهِم عَلَماً
وَلاand not تَرىyou see عَلَماًa standard إِلّاexcept لَهُit has سَنَدُsupport
وَلا تَرى عَلَماً إِلّا لَهُ سَنَدُ
Do you not see a standard for them in their dominion?
Do you not see for them in their kingdom a banner
And you see no standard without support.
And you do not see a banner but for Him a support
