And our pot's hearthstones were her husband's head

And his two uncles' heads, amid fallen hands and shins.

Have you not seen that, at the sacred sites, people are guided

By us, and ours is the glory of one whose boasts are believed?

My forefather is Mudar; from him came the Messenger, through whom

God guided those who prayed in west and east.

When Khindif strides proudly in the two Abtahs

Behind me, and Qays trails its robes at al-Musharriq,

Then no one fails to see us ahead of him,

And as his masters above him when we meet.

And whoever meets our two seas when they lock horns—

Khindif or Qays son of Aylan—will drown.

They are God's two mountains, whose summits

Stand with the soaring star in the highest sky.

We conquered, by God's leave, every city

In India, or any barred gate of the Romans.
