And a woman rose and said to a mourner,

Whose eyes overflow with streaming tears:

Al-Jarrah was indeed steadfast until he was borne

To God's mercy by the keen-edged swords.

So he came to be among the people to whom Muhammad

Is a brother; and whoever joins them is safe.

    جَزاهُم بِها مُحصي السَرائِرِ عالِمُ

    They were rewarded for the intentions within their hearts;

The all-knowing Reckoner of secrets rewarded them for these.

To the highest chamber goes Muhammad's companion,

Abiding there, never leaving it for all time.

Let raiding horses weep for al-Jarrah,

And a day when the twin stars are seen.

So, to God belongs the earth that has buried his right hand,

And with it the missile-hurling enemy was wounded.

So, if livestock knew anything, they would weep for him,

And the beasts would weep for al-Jarrah.
