عَقَدتَ لَنا بِذِمَّتِكَ الجِوارا
But my heart grew calm when
Yet I put my worries to rest when
You pledged us protection under your covenant.
You pledged us neighborly conduct with your word
وَمَنand whoever تَعقِدyou tie لَهُfor him بِيَدَيكَwith your two hands حَبلاًa cord

فَقَد أَخَذَت يَداهُ لَهُ الخِيارا
And for whomever you tie a cord with your two hands,
And he who ties a rope by your hands
His two hands have indeed secured the best for him.
Has willingly given his hands the choice

And so long as you are among us, O son of ʿAbd Allāh,
What you are among us, o Ibn Abdillah
We fear neither oppression nor poverty.
Is no injustice we fear, or poverty we dread

Whomever dwelled there and travelled afar

Praise in which I do not lie; I have been spared
Praise I do not speak false that stayed my hands
The great calamities of time by your two hands.
From the calamities of monumental events

And anyone for whom al-Jarrāḥ ties a cord
And he who the surgeon ties a rope
Need fear no shortfall in his pledged protection.
Should not fear his word will fail him

When Qaḥṭān at al-Khayfayn meets
When Qahtan sees the Khufayn tribe
Nizār while attending its pilgrimage rites,
As their rituals come to an end in dearth

They saw in you a superiority that surpassed them
In ancestral honors and abundant numbers.
In pedigree and great numbers

When women take fright, none cares
When women panic, you pay no concern
About her exposed shins, nor about her veil;
To a market they exited without veils

They lower every hem when they see you,
Lowering all trains when seeing you
And hide the anklets and the bracelet.
Baring anklets and bracelets
