أَتَتكَcame to you رِجالٌmen مِنfrom تَميمٍTamim فَشَهَّدواthen they bore witness
أَتَتكَ رِجالٌ مِن تَميمٍ فَشَهَّدوا
فَضَيَّعتَso you neglected حَقَّdue اللَهِGod's فيin ظُلمِwronging مالِكِMalik
فَضَيَّعتَ حَقَّ اللَهِ في ظُلمِ مالِكِ
Men from Tamim came to you, then bore witness.
Men from Tameem came to you bearing witness
So you neglected God's due by wronging Malik.
Yet you neglected God's right in your darkness
وَأَنفَقتَand you spent مالَwealth اللَهِGod's فيin غَيرِother than حَقِّهِits rightful use
وَأَنفَقتَ مالَ اللَهِ في غَيرِ حَقِّهِ
عَلىon نَهرِكَyour river المَشؤومِill-omened غَيرِnot المُبارَكِblessed
عَلى نَهرِكَ المَشؤومِ غَيرِ المُبارَكِ
And you spent God's wealth where it did not rightfully belong,
And spent God's money wrongfully
On your ill-omened, unblessed river.
