If you deny our provisioner the dates from Razan,
If you deny the dates of Rāzān from our camels passing by,
you cannot deny most of the tribe those from Hajar.
You are not denying most of the living tribe that migrated.
قَدalready كُنتُI had أَنذَرتُكُمI warned you حَربيmy war إِذاwhen اِستَعَرَتit blazed up
نيرانُهاits fires هِيَit نارٌa fire تَقذِفُit hurls الشَرَراthe sparks
I had already warned you of my war, should it blaze up:
I had warned you of my war, when
Its flames are a fire that hurls sparks.
Its fires flared up, it is a fire that casts sparks.
قُبحاًshame! لِنارِكُمُupon your fire وَالقِدرُand the cooking pot إِذwhen نُصِبَتit was set
عَلىupon الأَثافيthe hearthstones وَضَوءُand the light of الصُبحِdawn قَدalready جَشَراappeared
Shame on your fire, as the pot was set
Evil be to your fire and the cooking pot when erected
upon the hearthstones, with dawn's light already shining.
Upon the cooking stones, and the morning light shone.
لَوif كانَwas يَعلَمُknowing ماwhat أَنتُمyou (plural) مُجاوِرُكُمyour neighbor
لَماthen would not have أَناخَmade his camel kneel إِلىbeside أَحفاشِكُمyour hovels سَحَراbefore dawn
If your neighbor had known what you are,
If he who dwells with you knew,
he would not have made his camel kneel beside your hovels before dawn.
He would not have rested by night among your tents.
