فعطفاً على فرد شقي بعيشه

فليس شقيا في الحياد كمثله

So show compassion to a solitary man, wretched in his life;

For no one in neutrality is as wretched as he.

عهدتك ندباً كاملاً ذا مكارمٍ

فتى أريحي الكف يزهو بخلقه

I have known you as gallant and accomplished, a man of noble virtues,

A generous-handed youth who shines through his character.

فديتك اسعفني بعطفك إنني

أغار علي البؤس وحدي بجيشه

May I be your ransom; help me with your kindness, for I

Have been assailed, all alone, by misery with its army.

فديتك فاطلق اسر فهد فإنه

مقر بفضل منك يعنو بأسره

May I be your ransom; release Fahd from captivity, for he

Acknowledges a favor from you and bows in complete submission.

تريث إلى أن يأتي الفرج الذي

به دينكم تشتاق نفسي لدفعه

Be patient until the relief arrives

Through which my soul longs to repay the debt I owe you.
