Thirsted as the remorseful thirsted
١. قُم فَاِسقِ كَأَسَكَ إِنَّها
عَطِشَت كَما عَطِشَ النَدامُ
2. O brothers, life is but an evening,
We killed it while its wine was drunk
٢. يا إِخوَتي الدُنيا عَشي
قَتُنا وَريقَتُها المُدامُ
3. Were it not for you, O wine
Staying there would not be pleasant
٣. لَولا مُقامُكِ يا مُدا
مَةُ لَم يَطِب فيها مَقامُ
4. O life, how sweet you are, if not
For the fact that your end is the cemetery
٤. يا عَيشُ ما أَحلاكَ لَو
لا أَنَّ آخِرَكَ الحِمامُ
5. O moon, even you in it
Your fullness cannot be complete
٥. يا بَدرُ حَتّى أَنتَ في
ها لا يَتِمُّ لَكَ التَمامُ
6. He sang and clapped to the wine
And made the branch dance with the pigeon
٦. غَنّى وَصَفَّقَ بِالجَنا
حِ فَأرقَصَ الغُصنَ الحَمامُ
7. So awake, for waking is
A day on which to awake, o sleepers
٧. فَتَيَقَّظوا فَالصَحوُ يَو
مٌ في التَيَقُّظِ يا نِيامُ
