1. By Allah, say to the Nile from me that truly
I have not quenched my thirst from Euphrates' water

2. And ask my heart - for it is to me a witness -
If my eyes were miserly with their tears

3. Oh heart, how many a Buthaina you left behind
And I implore your patience to be good
