1. Patience over the cruelty of the beloved and his delay
For when the excuses come, they come with his business
١. صَبراً عَلى نَكَدِ الحَبيبِ وَمَطلِهِ
فَإِذا العِذارُ أَتى أَتاكَ بِشَغلِهِ
2. Locks of hair whirl as if they are
The rings of mail with the clinking of his isolation
٢. حَلَقاتُ شَعرٍ تَستَديرُ كَأَنَّها
حَلَقُ البَريدِ بِها قَعاقِعُ عَزلِهِ
3. O He who rewards the benefactors their rewards
And gives them increase of His bounty from His bounty
٣. يا مَن يُوَفّي المُحسِنينَ أُجورَهُم
وَيَزيدُهم مِن فَضلِهِ في فَضلِهِ
4. If the enemies scheme an evil scheme
Then the promise is true that it will overcome its people
٤. إِن يمكُرِ الأَعداءُ مَكراً سَيِّئاً
فَالوَعدُ حَقٌّ أَن يَحيقَ بِأَهلِهِ
