ويأمرني من لا أطيق بهجرها

1. He who I cannot bear to be estranged from me commands me,
And it would suffice me if he but looked upon her, it would suffice me,

١. وَيَأمُرُني مَن لا أُطيقُ بِهَجرِها
وَحَسبي بِهِ لَو كانَ يَنظُرُها حَسبي

2. He intimates to my body the separation of his heart.
Yet I have remained thus - can a body exist without a heart?

٢. يُشيرُ عَلى جِسمي بِفُرقَةِ قَلبِهِ
بَقيتَ كَذا هَل كانَ جِسمٌ بِلا قَلبِ

3. And yet I reproach the days I spend in this state -
Far be it from that face to feel the pain of rebuke!

٣. وَإِنّي عَلى الأَيّامِ فيها لَعاتِبٌ
وَحاشا لِذاكَ الوَجهِ مِن أَلَمِ العَتبِ
