1. The spirit roams lost in passion and wishes
Immortal in essence yet like all men transient

2. In him what life holds of problems
Above prohibitions, below the divine

3. A painting time has captured
Eternal shadows and colors

4. He's like the clay we are from
He is all mankind in one human

5. A king when art desires his reign
Precious in status and scepter

6. Or a naked destitute torn by winds
And starved by deprivation's agony

7. And if he wishes he's an angel
Sacred, pure, perfect

8. Or a demon with clamorous heavens
A follower except for Satan

9. Every living being has a tongue yet he alone
Speaks in a thousand tongues

10. Eloquence fails to express what
He desires without eloquence

11. With his human face's emotions
And his serpentine body's writhes

12. With his hands, eyebrows, eyes
What lips cannot utter

13. He weeps or laughs, clever
Or brilliant, a miracle of charm

14. And if his hands speak then happy
And if gloomy then to the gathering bid me adieu

15. Forgive me or save me or weep
With me or celebrate with songs

16. And if his eyebrows knit then perplexed
A lover's rapture or vain pride

17. As for his eyes, alas his eyes, worlds
Of dawns and meaningful gazes

18. Two flames restless
Endlessly roaming existence

19. Two girls frolicking
Two goddesses, two she-devils

20. The cosmos tremors when they radiate
Life sleeps when they grow dark

21. On his mouth, ah his lips
Stillness crumbles into delirium

22. His lips, two coasts of a fickle sea
In his heart lies time's ocean

23. If he presses them, speaks of mockery
Both worlds ache from his ridicule

24. Or purses them, how thirsty a kiss
Yearning for the cheeks of beauty

25. Or confides love so you may find yourself
The fervent slave of passion

26. If he rebels then simple Rome
He's its Nero sans the fires

27. And if he whistles, the creek is
The lover complaining of love to the branches

28. You may meet him oozing kindness
As volcanoes erupt at his sides

29. If only those who envy him knew him
He's a universe like these worlds

30. My bewilderment at him is like
The greatest when alive in the next life

31. When describing him, all I have done
Is embody the world of artistry
