1. For centuries we ruled this world,
With immortal ancestors who subjugated it.

2. We wrote pages shining with light,
Time has not forgotten, nor have we forgotten.

3. We carried flashing swords,
That refuse to bend after the horror.

4. If they come out of their sheaths one day,
You will see the awe and clear triumph.

5. And we were, when people attacked us,
Able to discipline them forcefully.

6. And we were, when an unjust ruler took us,
Trampling his forehead.

7. Our hearts overflow with guidance and courage,
Our eyelids never tolerate injustice.

8. And time kept turning until
Another people succeeded us in glory.

9. And my people were no longer seen among the caravan,
Although their leaders lived for years.

10. And it hurt me and hurt every free soul,
The question of fate: where are the Muslims?

11. Will the past return?
For that past I yearn sincerely.

12. We built an era of kingdom on earth,
Supported by aspiring youth.

13. Youth who paved the ways to glory,
And knew no religion but Islam.

14. They were nurtured and grew nobly,
Their branches thrived in life.

15. They came to blessed gardens,
Where water flowed from springs.

16. When they witnessed turmoil they were calm,
Demolishing forts and castles.

17. And if night fell you would not see them
Save prostrating humbly from devotion.

18. A youth whom the nights did not defeat,
Nor surrendered their dens to the enemy.

19. The drinking parties never saw them
Filling their clubs with immorality.

20. They never knew singing girls,
But excellence was their melody.

21. They were led by the greatest among them,
In struggle and knowledge, not the boldest of eyes!

22. So they united in noble character,
And gathered modestly as one.

23. Never knowing depravity in girls,
Or effeminacy in boys.

24. They never flaunted the pretense of learning,
Or imitated the atheists.

25. They never boasted vainly in any grave matter,
So it would be said: they are our intellectuals!

26. That is how Islam produced my people,
Youth sincere, free, and trustworthy.

27. It taught them honor and how it is built,
Refusing to be subdued or disgraced.

28. Spare me false securities,
For I found no rest but in suspicions.

29. And bring me the light of faith,
And strengthen my heart with certainty.

30. I will extend my hand and uproot foundations,
And firmly build glory anew!
