لَوif أَنَّthat خَيليmy cavalry أَدرَكَتكَhad overtaken you وَجَدتَهُمyou would have found them
مِثلَlike اللُيوثِthe lions بِسِترِin the shelter of غِبِّthe depths of عَرينِa lair
If my cavalry had overtaken you, you would have found them
If my horses had reached you, you would have found them
like lions sheltered in the depths of a lair.
Like lions protecting their lair's hidden interior.
وَلَأَورِدَنَّand I shall surely bring الخَيلَthe cavalry بَطنَthe hollow of أَراكَةٍArakah
وَلَأَقضِيَنَّand I shall surely repay بِفِعلِby doing ذاكَthat دُيونيmy debts
And I shall surely bring the cavalry into Arakah's hollow,
And I would have led the horses to Arakah's belly
and I shall surely repay my debts by doing that.
And with that deed paid off all my debts.
وَلَأَقتُلُنَّand I shall surely slay حَجاحِجاًgreat chiefs مِنfrom among بَكرِكُمyour Bakr
وَلَأَبكِيَنَّand I shall surely make weep بِهاthrough it جُفونَeyelids of عُيونِeyes
And I shall surely slay great chiefs from among your Bakr,
And I would have killed Hajjaj from among your youth
and thereby I shall surely make eyes' lids weep,
And with him made the eyelids of eyes weep.
حَتّىuntil تَظَلَّgo on الحامِلاتُpregnant women مَخافَةًin fear
مِنof وَقعِناour blows يَقدِفنَthey cast out كُلَّevery جَنينِunborn child
until pregnant women go on, in fear
Until the pregnant women remain in fear
of our blows, casting out every unborn child.
Of our attack, miscarrying every fetus.
