Do not grieve, O people of my tribe
Indeed, life in this world is passing and fleeting.
For life in this world soon passes by
الموتdeath حتمٌan inevitability للبريةfor creation شاملٌall-encompassing
الموت حتمٌ للبرية شاملٌ
كلevery ابنson انثنىturned back لاno محالةescape مائتdestined to die
كل ابن انثنى لا محالة مائت
Death is inevitable, encompassing all creation.
Death is destined for all that lives
Every son who has turned back will inevitably die.
Each mortal born will surely die
وكفىand it suffices يقينيmy certainty حيثsince تاريخيmy history روىrecounted
وكفى يقيني حيث تاريخي روى
أنيthat I علىin إيمانthe faith of بطرسPeter ثابتsteadfast
أني على إيمان بطرس ثابت
And my certainty suffices, for my history has recounted
My faith is firm as history shows
That I am steadfast in Peter’s faith.
