بلغ القوم نصر ذوي الهمم

ظفر الباسل الشهم ذي العلم

Tell the people of the victory of men of high resolve—

The triumph of the brave, noble bearer of the banner.

ثور الهيجاء بحملته

شحن الآكام من الرمم

He stirred the battle with his charge,

Filled the hillocks with corpses.

كم جال وصال على الأبطا

ل كما الرئبال بلا وهم

How often he wheeled and charged against the heroes,

Like a lion, without misgiving.

سطعت كشهابٍ صوارمه

تبلى الأرقاب بجزهم

His sharp swords flashed like a meteor;

Necks perish as they are severed.

كبر الفرسان بغارته

وسعير الصولة في ضرم

The horsemen cried “God is great!” at his raid,

And the fire of the onslaught blazed.

وزعيم خواص سعادته

كالباز يفجر سيل دم

And the chief of His Excellency's chosen men,

Like a falcon, unleashes a torrent of blood—

بطل الأوصاف أبو عسا

ف شجاعٌ شهيرٌ في الأمم

A hero in every trait, Abu Assaf,

Brave and renowned among the nations,

في حمى سيدٍ واسعٍ فضله

فاق أرباب عصره بالنعم

Under the protection of a lord whose bounty is vast,

Who surpassed the lords of his age in generosity.

سطعت بلوامع غاربه

مهجٌ قد كانت في ظلم

His crest's bright gleams lit up

Souls that had once been in darkness.

بدد الفرسان بخان مرا

د بما قد شاد من الهمم

He scattered the horsemen at Khan Murad

Through the high resolve he had built up.

وتمرق شمل العدو وقد

ولو الأدبار بخيلهم

And the enemy's ranks broke apart, while

They turned their backs and fled on their horses.

دع عنك رسوم غوايةٍ من

أغراه الشك إلى الندم

Leave aside the traces of the error of one

Whom doubt has lured to remorse.

وارتع برياض رعايته

قتنال جداً فيضه العمم

And graze in the gardens of his care;

Then you will truly attain his all-embracing bounty.
